Ok, so I know that…
Posted (PhatGurlLove) in PKMP on July-24-2010

I’ve been slack in the blogging department. But let me tell ya something! It’s been for a good reason. The PKMP, for those of ya’ll that don’t know is the mentoring program launched officially March 6th, 2010. I have been extremely busy with trying to recruit mentors and mentees!

Since I lost the baby in March, I have been fully engrossed in getting the program off the ground. I have grieved and I am now in the process of just letting things be. Whatever happens-happens at this point. But I now have 27 kids enrolled in the mentoring program and not one mentor. ***SIGH*** Where ya’ll at? That’s a different post for another day.

However, I am so excited about what has been going on so far!  We have went on several outings and have received a lot of positive  feedback and I am looking for more. I will be posting several questions on the PKMP fan page and hope to receive some honest feedback. I look forward to hearing from you and it is never too late to make a difference in a child’s life whether it’s yours or someone else’s. It just make a difference in your life too!

Press/Reviews:

DJ Cotton El Murkot (WCOM 103.5FM Chapel Hill/Carrboro) – “This girl has got something special.”

“Voices” – Johnny’s Daughter – “Wow, Johnny’s Daughter has a really beautiful voice, she sounds a little bit like Mary J. Blige IMO. The lyrics throughout the verses she sang were very powerful and the chorus was fantastic. The production on this track is classic… This is another very good song.” – hiphoputopia.com

“Pride” – Johnny’s Daughter – “Again, Johnny’s Daughter did an excellent job with the singing on this track, I don’t know if it’s as good as the other track but it still very good. The production is kind of minimal on this track but it works well because it helps you to focus on the vocals more while keeping up the tempo, I like this.” – hiphoputopia.com

“Let It Go” (Remix) ft. Johnny’s Daughter, Keynote Speaker & Effrain Colon – “Yeh, this song has a really good feeling to it….and of course Johnny’s Daughter created an incredible chorus. I was feeling the beat too, that guitar at the end was crazy but I liked it.” – hiphoputopia.com

Check out Jamal tonight on PGL Radio!

Our second guest:

Ms. Ressie…

reesie

Ressie stepped into the music game with a blind eye, and out of the shadows arose a  lyrical phenomenon.  Her boastful attitude, polish with confidence and style, immediately  gain her recognition on the east coast as the “Boss Diva Princess“.  After dropping her hit single  “Do Da Big Girl” listeners became extremely inquisitive about who Ressie is? A Plus-sized beauty standing at five foot and six inches, she is poised, self-assured and confident about the skin she‘s in. Never indecisive as she explains why she is known as the ‘The Boss Diva Princess‘. “That’s because I know exactly what I want and need, and at no means do I settle for anything less. Many people are thinking; who is this person just coming into the Rap music industry and “blowing up?” It seems as if she came out of nowhere and she has drawn mega attention.

Ressie, born Teresa Dixon, began to utilize her vocals by singing in talent shows at the age of eleven years old with friends.  Although she pursued a career as a professional hair stylist and educator, being on center stage has always been her true passion. At the age of 19 she began to further her performance skills by  enrolling in several dance classes, and began to devote much of her time performing contemporary dances in local talent shows. Four the next three years she found her self being requested to perform praise and worship dances, which is were she developed her technical dance skills.

In 2005, she formed E.C.R. Entertainment and began to promote local parties and concerts. At which time she was approached by a music produced. After observing her talent of simply hosting an event, that he was attending, he insisted that she make a visit to the studio.

“Being a successful salon owner is great and I‘m good at what I do, but my heart has always been about making music,”comment Ressie. She then revamped and began focusing on a music career. A trip to the studio in Augusta, GA she meet with produced Trilla of S.A.B. Productions and recorded her first single “Do Da Big Girl”. This single expresses who Ressie is and being that voice for all full figured women across the world to say “Hey it’s Ok to be a voluptuous size woman and be Sexy. After recording her second single she was branded with the title “Boss Diva Princess”Currently Ressie is the spokesperson for East Coast Full Figured Women and  will be launching a network campaign with Hamilton Entertainment that will educate all the beautiful full figured women for clothing, conferences, charities and most of all Empowerment.

Ressie’s motto is: “Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections of your life and recognize  and appreciate what we do have.”
