Featured Guest:

Johnny’s Daughter is a talented and emerging R&B/Soul singer/songwriter/melodist/vocal arranger/producer. She began writing at an early age, but it wasn’t until after the passing of her father over a decade later that her writing became her therapy, art and message. Writing lyrics and melody came very naturally as she sought to connect with her listeners and share stories that are often part of our common human experience. She is sure to deliver a lyrical experience to which every audience can relate with her prolific art of storytelling. She often writes about relationship experiences and powerful messages of hope that bring awareness to social and economic issues that plague our communities. Her infectious melodies and production as well as her soulful vocal sound are ones that she can call her own and will surely put her next on your play list. Contact SESAC, NYC for licensing and publishing information at www.sesac.com. Johnny’s Daughter currently resides in the Bull City, Durham North Carolina

Press/Reviews:

DJ Cotton El Murkot (WCOM 103.5FM Chapel Hill/Carrboro) – “This girl has got something special.”

“Voices” – Johnny’s Daughter – “Wow, Johnny’s Daughter has a really beautiful voice, she sounds a little bit like Mary J. Blige IMO. The lyrics throughout the verses she sang were very powerful and the chorus was fantastic. The production on this track is classic… This is another very good song.” – hiphoputopia.com

“Pride” – Johnny’s Daughter – “Again, Johnny’s Daughter did an excellent job with the singing on this track, I don’t know if it’s as good as the other track but it still very good. The production is kind of minimal on this track but it works well because it helps you to focus on the vocals more while keeping up the tempo, I like this.” – hiphoputopia.com

“Let It Go” (Remix) ft. Johnny’s Daughter, Keynote Speaker & Effrain Colon – “Yeh, this song has a really good feeling to it….and of course Johnny’s Daughter created an incredible chorus. I was feeling the beat too, that guitar at the end was crazy but I liked it.” – hiphoputopia.com

~Mr. Coley~ PGL Radio December 23rd~ Tune In!!~
Posted (PhatGurlLove) in Music, PGL Radio, Vocalist on December-21-2009

TYCOLEY2

Call in number: (347) 855-8245

Talk with Mr. Coley!

Mr. Coley was born in Washington, DC but moved to Durham, NC at a young age.  Mr. Coley received his inspiration and talent from his mother, a God fearing woman who believed in praying and going to church – so began THE SOUL AND THE MUSIC!!! Singing around the house and playing drums in the church was his first connection, and then he began singing in various choirs. In high school, Mr. Coley was active in the gospel choir, and PERFORMED in stage plays like “DREAM GIRLS,” where he played Curtis Taylor Jr. Among other talents, Mr. Coley marched in the band and played SNARE on Hillside High School’s drumline, “Blue Steel,” making a cameo in the movie “THE INK WELL” starring Larenz Tate. Since then, Mr. Coley has performed in various night clubs all over North Carolina, but his “Big Break” came in 2006 when he performed on the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” live on FOXY 107/104 FM in Raleigh, NC. In 2007, Mr. Coley went on to perform at “THE WORLD FAMOUS APOLLO THEATER” in New York. He first performed his original song entitled “YO MRS.” at AMATEUR NIGHT, a non-televised show, securing his spot on the nationally televised show, “SHOWTIME @ THE APOLLO.” His rendition of “LATELY” (by Stevie Wonder, as performed by KC and Jo Jo) allowed him to advance in the competition as the returning winner for the next show – an “Apollo Legend” in the making! Mr. Coley has sung at UNIVERSAL RECORD LABEL and has written lyrics and recorded at “RUFF RYDERS RECORD LABEL”  as well, Mr Coley has also worked with MAJOR RAP LEGEND ”BIG DADDY KANE”, and “9TH WONDER”, PRODUCER from the rap group, ”LITTLE BROTHER”, since then Mr Coley has performed at the “CHARLOTTE MUSIC AWARDS” in Durham and Charlotte, NC, but his latest accomplishment was singing the “NATIONAL ANTHEM” at the 2008 MEAC basketball tournament held in Raleigh, NC at the RBC CENTER and the 2009 CIAA tournament in Charlotte NC ! So its safe to say that Mr. Coley has achieved “GREATNESS” in so many ways, Mr Coley has started his own publishing company called “TIMELESS SOUL” “Where Good Music Transends Generations”. This Singer, Songwriter, Producer” is a quadruple threat! Unlike any other artist, Mr. Coley has produced, written and arranged his own album entitled “FOREVER-MUSIC,” which makes him “THE MASTER MIND BEHIND THE MUSIC.” It’s been said, that even being unsigned, Mr. Coley is a “FRANCHISE” all by himself….”THE FUTURE OF REAL MUSIC.”

This R&B and Inspirational Singer is what embodies a “TIMELESS SOUL.”

microphone

I cannot believe this is episode 10! It may not be a big deal to ya’ll but I am hyped about it! 10 episodes of me coming through ya speakers to share a little piece of my world with you! This Wednesday night it will be no different! We are gonna have a good time and welcome our Featured Guest Chenier, Alumnus of St. Augustine’s College, like myself! ~FALCON PRIDE~

Mr. Romantic

Chenier hails from Queens, NY and now calls Raleigh, NC home. He discovered his gift to sing when he was 5 years old while singing in the church. Chenier continued to use his gift as a young man singing in churches, weddings, and various musical events.

This motivated him to pursue music in high school. Chenier attended The Brooklyn Academy of Music where he studied voice and received a partial scholarship to attend St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC. In college he developed his songwriting, honed his velvet vocal styling and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. Chenier also knew he had charisma and a voice to captivate an audience.

Chenier’s sound has drawn comparisons to great vocalists like Brain McKnight and Babyface but he still feel he has a sound of his own. Like many great singers and performers he credits been influenced by some of the greats: Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, R.Kelly and Brain McKnight just to name a few. Chenier is finally on his long awaited career path as a singer, songwriter and performer.

Chenier’s debut smash single One Fantasy, which he wrote and arranged received rave reviews from the Worldwide Songwriter’s Association. The song earned “Song of the Week” for 2 weeks straight with the Worldwide Songwriter’s Association. Chenier was also a top 20 finalist in 2005 Unisong International Songwriter Contest with One Fantasy. Even before the release his debut album, he was a nominee for the 2nd annual Carolina Music Awards for R&B male artist of the year for 2009. “One Fantasy” has received frequent airplay in North Carolina and repeated requests upon its release. Chenier is something that the music world has been missing; a fresh and sincere sound. Chenier is currently making appearances, giving interviews, performing, and finishing his debut album titled “Mr. Chenier” scheduled to be released in December 09. Chenier’s music will take you on a musical journey as he starts a career of longevity.

~December 2nd PGL Radio Featured Guest: DJ Magnum~
Posted (PhatGurlLove) in Music, PGL Radio on December-2-2009

“I have put my all into this album and hopefully the number of record sales will prove it.”

DJ Magnum

Tonight we will be talking about AIDS AWARENESS! It’s a tough subject for some, but it must be discussed. Have you been tested? Share your story or poetry about that experience. Lost a family member to aids? Let us know and share with our audience, we must spread the word to stop this deadly disease from running ramped in our communities. As for the rest of the show, get ready to get your bounce on tonight! These hits created by DJ Magnum will have you dancing in your seat!  I will be spinning a few tracks by him tonight and asking you what do you think? The call in number is (347) 855-8245! Just drop in and say hello and share. Say wassup to DJ Magnum. Dj Magnum born on October 24th 1981 in Cashville Tennessee. Since the age of twelve I’ve had a passion for music. Having grown up in the projects in Tennessee and in Florida, I developed an interest in Hip-Hop and Rap music. I started writting music in the fifth grade and formed my first rap group along with William Dunkley and Chris Hudson. We were more interested in the fame and attention more than anything else. By the end of the school year the group broke up, because we all ended up going to different schools the following school year. It wasn’t untill 2006 when i began writing music again, and I released my first album in 2007 called “The Awakening”. The album was horrible, nobody would want to hear the negative lyrics and the bad production of the album. The album was never distributed and I hope nobody will ever hear it.
In October of 2007 I along with Quinsis and G-G formed a group called Teck Squad Generalz. We started recording our first mix-tape “Street Prodigy” in the attic of our house. This was a demo cd with only eight songs that were good songs but the production wasn’t by far the best. We were introduced to Blackface Ent. a local record label in Daytona Beach shortly after we finished Street Prodigy. The label loved our style and we recieved a three year contract to record with them. We started right away working on our promo cd, which was a four track cd that was the best songs that I have ever recorded. We began to distribute thousands of copies in the Daytona Beach area, and began to book shows at local civic centers as well as local nite clubs.

Our shows were aired on BET as well was local radio stations. Everything was going great, the fans loved our music and our swagg. But like always when your in a group there are issues and sometimes you work them out, but sometimes you dont.
By the begining of 2009 our issues became to much and the group broke up. There was alot of disagreement between the group as well as our label. As of today I’m currently working on my first solo album, which i plan to release in march 2010. This will certainly be a great album which I will be featured by know artist like Jon Young, Treal, and Haitian Fresh.

Listen to more hits from DJ Magnum on his MYSPACE MUSIC PAGE OR just click on his picture above! TUNE IN TONIGHT!

~November 4th on PGL Radio~ SOUL MELLO~
Posted (PhatGurlLove) in Music, PGL Radio, Uncategorized, Vocalist on November-3-2009

soulmello

www.blogtalkradio.com/phatgurllove

These men can sang! Whew! Let me tell ya’ll something. I’ve seen it live and in color and A CAPELLA~! You know that is the true test that we  use to see if someone can sing. IF they can sang with or without music. Trust me they can! Read more about Soul Mello below:

Welcome to a world where music is an infectious epidemic flowing freely via three minds, two bodies and one soul, a world where soulful melodic tones, lush vocal styling’s and lyrics are a breath of fresh air to the hearts and spirits of those who listen. This is the world of Soul Mello. Influenced by the likes of Brian McKnight, Boyz II men, Jamie Foxx, Jodeci, Jon b, Tony Vega and a list of legends including Carlos Santana, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke and Teddy Pendergrass, Soul Mello places a fingerprint on your heart and mind while taking you back to the music that the over 30 crowd grew up on, and that which young lovers can embrace. It’s no accident that with one listen to this duo you become totally enveloped by the music bleeding through your stereo monitors. These gentlemen take you to a place you haven’t been before while giving you that old familiar feeling along the way.

This is more than just the collective vision of two men who love music; it is the destiny of two souls, predetermined by God. There is no other explanation of how two men from different geographical locations and backgrounds cross paths and become what is Soul Mello. Soul Mello was founded by Lee Blake in 1997 and restructured when Blake met Rediscka Pinkney on a summer night in 2002 while serving in the United States army at fort Bragg, North Carolina. “It was meant to be. My best friend, Rediscka’s cousin introduced us” Blake says.

Both men having backgrounds in school and church music programs and each with aspirations of being solo artists took a listen to each other in that first meeting and decided at that moment that with each of them bringing their talents and unique styles together that they had something so special even they couldn’t understand it; both grounded in faith attribute it to divine intervention. “God has his plan for everyone; this had to be his plan for us” Pinkney states.

Over the next seven years, amidst deployments, field problems and late night parachuting operations, the fellas would hone their craft performing when and wherever they were able to do so.  Between the months of October 2006 and January 2007 after a collective 19 years of service, each man would make the life changing decision to end his Army career and pursue music full time. In February 2007, Soul Mello the r&b duo grew into Soul Mello entertainment. “Redd’s been involved in music since the age of 4; I started my thing at 7 and with nearly 50 years of collective total music experience it was inevitable” Blake says. Being vocalists, songwriters, and producers it only made sense that Soul Mello would evolve. Soul Mello simply put IS entertainment. Ladies and gentlemen we recommend you proceed with caution as you lose all control of your senses in the captivating sounds of Soul Mello. Tune in to PGL Radio to hear more on  Soul Mello!
